Wedding Countdown....14 days to go!

Isn't it typical!
No matter how hard you plan and prepare and tell yourself you won't do it, life kind of takes over and here we are painting, sewing, making and generally staying up way too late , with just two weeks to go.
Don't get me wrong, this is what I love and enjoy the most.
This is what makes my daughter's wedding personable.
Individual.
Special.
Anyone can spend a lot of money and 'buy' a wedding. One look at any 'Hello' magazine wedding shoot tells you that. However when I look at them I do not think 'wow', I think 'Sterile', without a soul.
The nicest thing about Weddings, is not the money spend, it's the time spend.
Abigail's wedding will reflect not just her, but all of us, past and present.

I miss my mum!
I really miss her throughout preparing for Abigail's wedding.
I know Abigail misses her too.
We have thought a lot about how to incorporate her into the day and have come up with some lovely ways. I like to think, as Mair says that 'she's looking down watching us all'. I hope, if she is, then she is proud of all we have done.
I can imagine her raising her hands quite a few times and saying 'Och! Fiona' (she was a proud Scot!) at the money we have spent and the ideas we have had!
I miss not asking her advice, running things by her, taking her out to buy her outfit, watching her roll her eyes, watching her joy and pride at her grandchildren's achievements and how fantastic they look. I miss how much she would have enjoyed being part of this day, I miss the fact that we will not have any grandparents at the wedding at all. I miss that Mair misses her and talks about her all the time to me.
I miss my mum!

I have done all the Calligraphy for both the invitations and the order's of service. I am so blessed that Abigail and Glenn wanted this, as we did , 25 years before. I have enjoyed designing their things just as much as I did my own, and am proud of how they look. Poor Abie and her friends have spent many a long evening knocking out 100's of these on cards, with ribbons, diamantes and butterflies!

I am sewing the maternity bridesmaids dress and thankfully this should be finished this week. As the only person around who can work a sewing machine I was nominated for the task! I have also customised the flower girls dainty little ballet pumps.
The last job is to dress the church and we have spent today discussing how we plan to do this, maximise on the flowers and displays and take them with us to the afternoon and evening venue. We are doing all the flowers and displays ourselves along with a whole host of friends who have bravely offered to come and help the day before!
Yes, we have had to cost cut and do a lot ourselves, but this has not been a burden, rather it has meant a lot of people have been involved and have had the pleasure of knowing how much they have contributed to the day. It has made the whole day far more personable personable and individual and and has also meant we have been able to do so many things and make so many little touches ourselves.
So 13 days to go!
Dress fittings to have, hair styles to decide upon, and evening outfits to be bought.
Thank God it's half term!
