The Beach

We are very fortunate to live about 5 mins walk from the local beach. I particularly love this beach because dogs are banned. I have an innate fear of dogs, so it is one of the few places I can relax and not panic.
Well, till I had the twins that is.

Since the twins, days on the beach are spent dashing up and down as they crawl off in two opposite directions! No sooner have you retrieved one, then you have to go and get the other. They find this highly amusing of course!

I never take the beautiful place we are fortunate to live in for granted. We lived 40 miles away from here, in a lovely city called Chester for 12 years. We used to look out across to the hills and wish we lived closer. We used to catch the train with the children here, or borrow someones car. Now we actually live here, by the seaside and the beach.
My 11 year old scooters home along the sea front each day.
My teenagers meet their friends for ice creams and chips on the beach.
We take disposable barbecues down and sit and watch the sun set.
The little ones can ride their bikes there and back home again with us.
Tonight , no one could enjoy their tea.
The twins were fed and really wingey but it was too early for them to go to bed, so I packed them in their buggy and walked for miles along the sea front and back home again. I watched the sun dance on the waves. I listened to the gentle beating of the waves over the sand. The sky was deep blue and it was a truly beautiful walk.
There is a sense of space here.
Having lived in many places where I felt 'cooked up', I appreciate living here, being able to look out onto endless miles of ocean.
We have the priviledge of bringing up our children in a safe and healthy environment, where going out to the beach costs nothing but time.
We are truly blessed.
